Macatawa Legends

Tasked with the layout of an 18-hole golf course and walkable community that evoked a turn-of-the-century sense of a bygone era inherent to Black Lake or Lake Macatawa in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Visbeen designed an award-winning course featuring a roving neighborhood of luxury amenities and residential vernacular. Inspired in-part by the resorts like the Grand Hotel and Macatawa Hotel, Macatawa Legends in Holland, Michigan captures a resort-style living aesthetic through its distinctive vernacular across villas, townhomes, and single-family homes, and an efficient, intuitive layout maximizing buildable space and access to a grand clubhouse, pool, restaurant, and course. The latter was crafted in collaboration with a golf course designer to refine details into its award-winning design.
